Backorder allows you to see which product(s) and the quantity you have on backorder with us. As an example, backorders are created when you order 5 of something and we only have 3 in stock. In this instance, 3 are supplied to you and the remaining 2 go on backorder to be supplied when they are back in stock. The backorder screen displays this information by showing what you ordered, what was supplied and what is still outstanding (Figure 6.1).

Being able to access this data will mean that you will not order products that you already have on backorder again. If you have products on backorder and try to add that product to you current order, the system will notify/display this information for you (Figure 6.2).
